Can you tell us about it?

Thank you! My latest book is titled Dreams of Eternity. It's a fantasy novel set in a world where magic is forbidden, and those who possess it are hunted down. The story follows a young mage who discovers her powers and must navigate a dangerous journey to unlock the secrets of her past and save her kingdom from tyranny.

What inspired you to write Dreams of Eternity?

I’ve always been fascinated by stories of magic and adventure. The idea for Dreams of Eternity came to me during a trip to Scotland, where I was captivated by the landscapes and folklore. I wanted to create a world where magic is both feared and revered, and explore themes of identity, power, and redemption.

How do you approach world-building in your fantasy novels?

World-building is one of my favorite parts of writing fantasy. I start by sketching out the geography, history, and cultures of the world. I draw inspiration from real-world cultures and mythology, but I also like to add my own twists and original elements. I pay attention to small details like language, customs, and architecture to make the world feel rich and immersive.

Can you walk us through your writing process?

Sure! I usually start with a general idea or concept and then brainstorm characters and plotlines. Once I have a rough outline, I dive into writing the first draft. I try to write every day, even if it’s just for a short period of time, to maintain momentum. After finishing the draft, I take a break before diving into revisions. I focus on refining the plot, developing the characters, and polishing the prose until I’m satisfied with the final product.

How do you develop your characters?

Character development is crucial for me. I like to start with a basic idea of who the character is—their personality, motivations, and goals. From there, I delve deeper into their backstory, relationships, and internal conflicts. I often write character profiles or do exercises to get inside their heads and understand what makes them tick. Sometimes the characters surprise me and take on a life of their own!

What challenges did you face while writing Dreams of Eternity?

One challenge was finding the right balance between exposition and action. As a fantasy writer, there’s a temptation to spend too much time on world-building at the expense of the plot. I had to learn when to sprinkle in details about the world and when to focus on moving the story forward. Another challenge was creating a magic system that felt unique and consistent within the world I’d created.

What do you hope readers will take away from your book?

I hope readers will be transported to another world and get lost in the adventure. On a deeper level, I want them to reflect on the themes of courage, resilience, and the power of believing in oneself. Fantasy has the ability to inspire and uplift, and I hope Dreams of Eternity does just that.
