Can you tell us about your newest book?

My pleasure! My latest novel, Whispers in the Forest, is a fantasy adventure set in a mystical land where nature itself is alive with magic. It follows the journey of a young protagonist who must uncover ancient secrets to save their village from a looming threat.

What sparked the idea for Whispers in the Forest?

The idea came from my love of nature and folklore. I’ve always been enchanted by the stories of enchanted forests and the magical creatures that inhabit them. Combining that with my interest in environmental themes gave birth to the world of Whispers in the Forest.

How do you build such vivid and intricate fantasy worlds?

World-building is one of my favorite parts of writing fantasy. I start with extensive brainstorming sessions, where I outline the geography, history, cultures, and magical systems of the world. I create detailed maps and write background stories for different regions and characters to make the world feel real and immersive.

Can you describe your typical writing day?

My typical writing day starts early in the morning. I begin with a quick review of what I wrote the previous day to get back into the flow. Then, I set a word count goal and write in focused sprints, taking short breaks in between. Afternoons are usually for editing and revising, and I often end the day with some reading or research.

What challenges do you face when creating your characters?

One challenge is ensuring that each character has a unique voice and personality. It’s important that they feel distinct and fully realized. I spend a lot of time developing their backgrounds, motivations, and relationships. Sometimes, I even write short stories or scenes that aren’t part of the main narrative to explore their personalities further.

How do you keep your plot engaging and unpredictable?

I outline extensively before I start writing, which helps me plot out major twists and turns. I also like to leave room for discovery during the writing process, which can lead to unexpected developments. I keep the stakes high and ensure that every chapter ends with a hook to keep readers wanting more.

What do you hope your readers will take away from your book?

I hope readers will be transported to another world and experience the wonder and excitement of the adventure. On a deeper level, I want them to reflect on the themes of harmony with nature, the importance of community, and the courage it takes to stand up for what is right.

Which authors have influenced your writing the most?

I’ve been influenced by a range of authors, especially J.R.R. Tolkien for his incredible world-building, Ursula K. Le Guin for her profound themes, and Neil Gaiman for his whimsical yet dark storytelling. Each has taught me different aspects of writing that I strive to incorporate into my own work.
