Tipping The Scales Of Injustice

Description

The 40 year journey of an entrepreneur who was framed by a rogue Assistant United States Attorney and three federal agents and his attempt to clear his name.  A graduate of Annapolis who made four combat tours to Vietnam before graduating with an MBA from The University of Michigan, the author in 1979 teamed up with a Naval Reservist to approach the State of Michigan with a novel approach to replace uneconomical car ferries that transported railcars, trucks, cars and people between Michigan and Wisconsin.  To gain control of the design of the vessels to appease labor unions, the Michigan Dept of Transportation substituted a vessel construction contract for a profitable water service contract.  Unions accused us of bribery and three grand juries spent $4 million.  The MDOT required the tugboat design to carry a crew of 20 when 10 would operate until 2017. We sued MDOT for $63,900,000 for vessel cost overruns.  A fourth grand jury indicted us and a trial jury returned a specious conviction on 6 of 11 counts.  Nine appeals fell on deaf ears, and Opinions, unsupported by evidence but relied on lies, were issued.
