Michael Ross
Born and raised in Bristol, England. I spent my adult life in business, much of that time marketing cars, and eventually owned the largest Saab specialist in the world. Life changes led me to leave Bristol and live halfway up a mountain in the Welsh Valleys; start a six-year English Literature course at Bristol University, and attend creative writing classes in Cardiff. My interest in English literature consequently flourished and I soon won several prizes for my short stories. Over a ten-year period, I worked in the substance abuse charity sector, running book reading groups in various places including Parc Prison in Bridgend. A richly rewarding experience; both personally and as an inspiration for my future writing. So many interesting people entered my life during that period. In 2024 I will be publishing a thoughtful love story -"Paper Thin Words," and a rom-com thriller - "Quiet the Waves." Also hoping to put all my short stories into one anthology, provisionally entitled "120 Short Stories." I live very happily halfway up that mountain in the Welsh Valleys with my wonderful partner, Mari, and our rescue dog Wenna.
Quiet the Waves
For Ryan Gould it's just another pay day, collect a car from Portugal deliver it to the UK. Nothing too complicated - until he decides on an unscheduled stopover in Northern France, in the city of Rennes, a quiet drink in the town square, where life would have turned out so differently if he not noticed the girl sitting on the bench was sobbing her heart out.
From there onwards his life twists and turns out of control until he finds himself in police custody charged with abduction and a journey to get to the truth. The girl on the bench, Claire, had misled him from the very beginning; who was she, and how had she managed to wreak so much havoc in his life?
